Easter is the most important day of the year, for Christians. It's a time to reflect on the sacrifice that Christ made on our behalf, so that friendship with God could be restored.

Holidays - Holy Days - are incredibly important. I think on ordinary days we can sometimes shelve the holy in the rush of the humdrum (mundane, everyday tasks that consume us), we lose our focus for the truly important. Setting aside a holiday like Easter allows us to spend some time in remembrance and gratitude so we don't fall into the habit of taking things lightly or for granted.

Easter is the day that Christ rose from the dead!! Praise God for that, and for our salvation.

And that, friend, is my serious answer! God bless you.

To me Easter is like Christmas. A arbitrary day.

I have tried to find the actual date of the Last Supper and Ressurrection, which makes more sense to me.

I also follow the Jewish Passover as Jesus asked us to.

I love Easter! My kids hunt for shamrocks on St. Patrick's Day and we talk about how the snow is melting. Then they hunt for eggs on Ostara, one of our spring holidays. We talk about what's changed. Then, they hunt for eggs again with our Christian family on Easter and then we complete the lesson in spring and renewal. Most of the Easter traditions are from the Celtic celebration of Ostara and the celebration of the Germanc tribes (which are of Celtic origin as well) of their holiday Eostre (yes folks, that's where the name came from). You didn't really think that Jesus brought chocolate and colored-egg-laying bunnies back with his resurrection did you?

I celebrate fertility and rebirth. Bunnies and chicks all over my altar at this time of year.
