I would take pocket aces, however if you were to get in cheap against a guy you know has pocket aces, or say you are big stacked against a short stack with pocket aces, the best hand to have is mid suited connectors. Hands such as 9 10 suited j 10 suited 8 9 suited.
Pre-flop you can be rather careless sometimes with pocket aces thinking you automatically have the nuts, but the bad news is top pair does not always win the hand. So you need to be aware of the flop if three of a suit comes out and you are not holding one of those suits aces, then be careful against a bet. Be very aware of your surrounding players histories. There are commonly two things that happen with pocket aces:
One is that someone will flop top pair with a k or q kicker and bet, another is that someone does flop a better hand such as two pair, a straigh or a flush. If someone you know draws out straights or flushes keep betting if they did not get on the flop, but be very very cautious of the board.
Two, you will only have two outs in the deck if someone catches trips on the flop, anything higher and you have to hit both aces to quad and win or trip your aces and then pair the board. If someone catches two pair you have a few more outs, but its still a dangerous situation.
Position as always is very important, in an early position you have the advantage to check the flop and see what people have. If a raise comes re-raise the same amount to test the strength of their hand. In a late position you should try to be more aggressive then passive, and you should be most aware in the mid position with the aces, because if you smooth call you run the risk of someone ahead of you having caught something and re-raising the previous bet. However, in my opinion the smooth call is really the only solution to a bet before you. If you re-raise the bet with aces with the draw out you risk someone re-re-raising after you with a better hand, but if you smooth call you reduce your losses in the situation someone caught the straight, flush, etc. on the flop.
So as I said
pocket aces are the best hand just be aware of:
1) The board
2) The bets
3) The types of players
and most importantly
4) Your position.

I'd rather have pocket Aces. While AK suited means further drawing opportunities, you only have 6 true outs to beat a lower pair... not counting potential drawing hands for flushes and straights.
Of all the times I've gone all-in with very high suited cards, I could never pull down the pot. However, by getting other people in when I had AA and even KK, 90% of the time I would come out ahead and take them for all they have.
Be very agressive with these cards. Make people truely pay to see your hand and build up for later hands as well. They may think you're running hot.

Well, if it's pre-flop, everybody would take AA. Why? Not you?
I take the AA, KK, and AKs. It's all depend on the situation.
That a weird question you have here..
Take care
