I would definitely go with Canon model for the obvious reason. They have been in the photography industry for many years, and they are certainly well versed. True you may pay a bit more, but for technology and knowledge in this equipment, then I would stick with the best.

sony cameras are terrible, i would definatly go with canon for a good camera, much better quality and more relianant support staff, making it a much better buy, try the digital rebel from canon

Sony only has one real camera. Its Alpha 100. With canon, how much do you want to spend?
EOS 1Ds Mark II = $8000
EOS 1D Mark IIn = $4000
EOS 5d = $3000
EOS 30D = $1400
