Dim sum is the cantonese pronounciation for snacks or finger foods. It's really yummy!

The words dim sum are the Cantonese pronounciation. The words mean 'dots of the heart'. I suspect that the reason for this is that the charcter for 'heart' contains 4 strokes, of which 3 are dot strokes, and the character looks like 4 pieces (a typical number) of dim sum layed out on a plate.

Basically it means finger foods. It is Cantonese and literally means "touch the heart" (order to your heart's content) but meaning morsel/snack.
