Love is a feeling you have when you really appreciate someone because of who they are. Love runs in a spectrum, but there's at least a little to love in almost everybody. Sometimes, people can change or you can take them for granted or you realize they're different than you thought, and you might not then appreciate them so much-- this is falling out of love. To a degree, you can choose how much you appreciate someone, but to really get to love, you need to also be open; i.e. there's a crucial subconscious component you can't do anything about one way or another, and it usually makes the difference between loving or not.
Also, being "in love" is a little different: "being in love" is something between two people that grows and develops over time.

there is no such thing in the world called love, only fear, need and hate. To me i think love is when u have this feeling for somebody u really care for. When u dont see him u, miss him and wonder where he is. You cant stay mad at him, and read his ims or messages over and over,u walk reali slow when ur with him, and all those things. Sex is not reali love. i think it is done for pleasure and sex is not always pleasure. when u guys have eye contact, theres this awesome feeling in ur heart and this missing or this feeling that he is the missing puzzle in ur life that will fill ur whole puzzle when he belongs to u.

Love is just as much physical as it is emotional, despite popular belief. Love is a connection between two people that,if even for a moment, renders everything around it obsolete.

Love is the feeling of complete comfort you get with someone. I know I am in love with my boyfriend because if he broke up with me, yes I would cry a ton and not know how to continue, but I wouldnt change a thing. Every up and down that we have is amazing and I dont know how I would survive without him.

I sadly have to agree with Neil. Love may have existed at one time but it seems to have been replaced with lust. I personally never experienced love (except between family but thats different). So really love is something that is vanishing .
