I put in a request through a "Yahoo Answers Team"
Staff member.
It will help if a lot if we all make request like the one below.

Hello,
We are a group that enjoys the Martial Arts category.
Here we are in 2007,how things have changed in the last 20 years.
Major changes in sport Martial Arts have brought about two groups of followers. One group is interested
in "Traditional" Martial Arts, the other in today's sport
"Mixed Martial Arts",MMA for short.
These competitions are beamed around the world
via satelite and cable, the size of the viewing audience is "Huge".
We suggest a "Sub" category for MMA,or when you click on Martial Arts you have a choice of :
"Traditional" or "MMA"
Let me know if you can help,
Jim

Note:People like me that like both just click back & forth.

Just made a suggestion to do just that.
I think it will be a good thing all around.

I just went to the bottom of the page and clicked on "Yahoo Answers Feedback" and used the "Suggestion Box" feature.
It's easy!

Thanks for getting the ball rolling Jim.

Personally I don't think there should. MMA is part of traditional martial arts believe it or not. That and I wouldn't like to have to jump back and fourth between two categories (I like questions about both) or drawing a line between so called TMA and MMA.

However if there is going to add a sub category for MMA and such, it should be called "Ring Sports" and cover more than just MMA. This includes, Muay Thai, kickboxing, and Submission grappling competitions along with MMA.

Personally I think they should also turn the boxing and wrestling categories into sub categories for the "Ring Sports" section as well, but that probably wouldn't happen.

I agree-a sub classification or 2 could be constructive and the reality that different activities have sub categories and martial arts does unlikely ability the people who make this determination at the instant are not martial artists nor familiar with its selection. keep engaged on it and faster or later I wager it is going to ensue inspite of the incontrovertible fact that it by no ability will if all of us do no longer chime in. make certain you upload a logical reason or 2 that they are able to narrate to and remember-its possibly non-martial arts practitioners that make the techniques in this in any different case i might think of we already might have a sub classification or 2.

Wonderful idea. Boxing is a martial art and has it's own category(which it should). MMA should have its own category as well.

Awesome idea! I just copied and pasted what you wrote and put in the feedback section. Hopefully we can get our own category.

didnt they have traditional board breaking and compititions aired before? .. I think that the problem lies with too many cheifs... too many schools and not enough air time for traditional. plus 1/2 the time those tournaments are bias who would control that? I say have traditional fights and lets let the public decide who fights who and who wins... like on american idol. i would like to watch that.
