I picked up one for my son the other day... and to my surprise, the toy/rpize inside was a book. Finally a "toy" worth keeping! I say Bravo Taco Bell.... I hope other fast food companies would follow their lead. I am so tired of those little throw away toys... that never get thrown away!

Chik-fil-a has been doing it for years.

Ever wondered why they never get thrown away? Because they are fun. I totally support what Taco Bell is doing, but I think that those "throw away toys" are important. A child needs to play. It is one way children grow up.

Oh brother. What people don't get worked up over. I have oodles of boxes with all the old "toys" from happy meals, etc.... my kids are now pretty much grown and they bring back happy memories.
And we have books, tons and tons and tons of books, still have the bookshelves out and they bring back happy memories too. Especially when my 18 year old ask if I remember all the times we read and re-read the seemingly hundreds of "Little Critter" books we have. :)
No offense but if you don't want your kids to have the "the little throw away toys" (your words) don't buy the happy meals.

Yep, I know what you mean. After having five children of my own, I've been stepping on HM toys or finding them under car seats and under beds for over 23 years! Also Popeye's chicken has a good "valued" kid's meal for under $3 and it has a Magic School Bus book this month. Last couple of months it was a Zoo Book magazine. Good food, too.!

I hate kids meal toys. "We HAVE to have the whole set, you can fit them all together and they do this or that. This one doesn't work without this other one" I can't stand it. I wish they would put books in all of them. I would even pay a little extra just to know that we aren't buying a stupid piece of plastic that is going get lost or broken in two days.

Took the kids to Chick-Fil-A this week and the kids' meals had (paperback) books in them, too.

Maybe worth keeping, but I think you forgot what it's like to be a kid.
