George W. Bush and John Howard are both striving to defeat terrorism, provide jobs, and stop homosexual perversion of our societies, among other things. Why do so many of you guys want to oppose these two heroes of mine, when they are doing the most good. Australia is one of our closest allies in the war on terror and voting for the Labor party will only embolden and aid the terrorists.

Answer: No hate, I agree with their goal! That said I'm not an Aussie and therefore as the question is stated I have no "dog in the fight" as it were. But after reviewing the answers so far I have a thought or two...three...Whatever! Governments founded on civilian freedom can only be assaulted by vile corrupt anarchists individuals that lust after the money and power of those that worked to earn such...So be it with "terrorists". But war upfront is something neither terrorists or their liberal/labour counterparts can abide...They cringe before and then Beg negotiations with those Murders, Thieves, and Thugs. Proving that they are the perfect victim to the terrorist's vile thuggery.
Their thought seems to be..."Let God sort them out"...Let's return the favor! In Kind as it were!

Looking out for your interests maybe. But not mine! I don't want innocent people to be punished for something they didn't do. Iraqis and Afghans didn't tell Osama or the Taliban to attack. I feel embarrassed. to say that Australian soldiers are in Iraq and Afghanistan 'Rebuilding' the countries.

There is something seriously wrong with you. The current Governments are making our countries more dangerous.

1. Terrorism existed before 11/9/2001. So why is it more dangerous now? Because our leaders say it is. The threat of terrorist activity has always been here. The war on terror is absolute joke and needs to end.

Stop watching the government controlled media.

2. Unemployment in Australia has always been quite low, and the economy has always been great.

The Gov't introduced the workchoices legislation which led to thousands of people having to resign contracts which are not permanent, and can be terminated at any time.

John Howard also promised 'NO GST' in Australia before he was elected. Guess What! The GST was introduced.

Australia would be much better under a Labor Government, and the polls show that people agree.

3. People like you need your head examined.

As an Australian I don't really care much about Democrats and Republicans, virtually two sides of the same coin as far as the world outside the USA is concerned. As far as I can see though the present administration in the US has a strong odour of pants on fire about it and it is probably time they were replaced.

It also seems to me from my "liberal" perspective that there is quite a lot wrong with the USA internally and there is little chance that the present Republicans will do anything about it because it offends their sense of economics which they got from Adams who wrote in the 18th century, but the Republicans have not updated it, or if they had, they have forgotten it.

The Democrats though may achieve some needed reforms. They will only happen if some corporations can make money out of them though.

Now it is a fact that I voted for the Liberal-National Coalition way back in the mid 1990s. Like thousands of other Australians, I was tired of being screeched at by feminists, ethnic groups, environmentalists and any of a few other pressure groups. many of whom were being encouraged if not partially funded by the Labor machine of the time. This was a mistake.

The so-called reforms that Howard has pushed through the parliaments are not reforms, they are regressions. I could mention any of a dozen issues over the past several years that I either disagree with or disgust me. I really liked the way that wharf workers were escorted off their workplaces by armed security guards with dogs in the early stages of Howard's reign.

I was particularly impressed by the "children overboard" affair. I'm pretty keen on the concentration camps that Howard has set up for illegal immigrants or refugees and that some had been held for years without good reason. I thought it was a fine idea to move them offshore so that they had limited access to legal advice. (Gitmo has a precedent in Australia.)

Another thing I'm really keen on are Australian Workplace Agreements. They are an invitation for employers to exploit younger workers and those whose education level etc is not particularly high. In reality for most people they are a contract imposed by employers on a take it or leave it basis.

I also like the fact that "business immigrants" are permitted to forego the usual background checks. A donation to the Liberal Party seems to be the key factor in this.

I was really thrilled by the Howard government's decision to send troops to Iraq. It had been plain even before the war that there were no weapons of mass destruction. It was also plain that there was little contact betwen the Iraqi government and al Q. Such a thing does not and did not make sense. It has become plain since the invasion was launched that the "evidence" for the invasion was overstated, exaggerated or just plain false. Now the reason for the invasion seems to have changed to bring democracy to Iraq. Yeah, right.

So when the election comes around at the end of this year, I hope Maxine McKew can get Howard of his seat. That will make little difference to him. He's probably arranged a seat for himself on the board of a nuclear power company that was formed a week before his announcement on the desirability of nuclear power stations.

You've certainly stirred something up here!
As other answerers have indicated, it certainly seems as though you need to take off your blinkers or rose tinted glasses or whatever it is stops you from seeing the big picture.
As a Kiwi, I can't comment on Howard, he doesn't even show above our horizon.
But Bush's stated aim is to eliminate terrorism, right? Sounds good, very good. But what is he replacing it with?
Terrorism. American terrorism.
The American style of democracy, as pursued by Bush, is definitely not in ANYONE'S interests except his own.
It amazes me that so many US citizens (not anywhere near the majority of them) support him and his terrorist tactics. His methods are not what the civilised world perceives as democratic.

If you saw some of the crap that Howard's done in the last couple of years you would know why. And voting for labor wont help the terrorists cause Aussies don't have enough combat troops to make a difference in Iraq.

Bush, Howard and Blair are war criminals and should be tried by the International War Crimes Tribunal. It won't happen but they are all three guilty of the first two of the four charges laid against the Nazis in the Nuremberg trials - conspiracy to commit aggression and the commission of aggression.

Fortunately we Australians will rid ourselves of Little Lying Johnny later this year in the federal election. The Americans and the world will be stuck with Bush for another year and two thirds.

Hero? What are you smoking? George Bush is a criminal. His office is the most corrupt in recent history - maybe ever. Every week there is a new scandal.

IMPEACH BUSH!

Sorry, don't know anything about John Howard

What? Is it in my best interests that little Johnny takes away working rights for all Australians? Is it my best interests that he continues to suck up to Bush and keep sending our troops to fight in wars we shouldn't even be involved in?
Our first step in this great Australian nation is that all New South Welshmen keep Iemma in on march 24 and open up Kiribilli House for the Rudd family later this year, then our best interests will actually be of interest to the politicians of our country - a strange concept as that hasn't been a priority since that great man Gough Whitlam.

They're NOT looking out for my best interests.

I think you'll find, the interests they are looking out for are their own.
Especially Johnny, he has an election coming up.
Thankfully, George W can't be given a 3rd bite of the cherry.
Something, everyone should be eternally grateful for.

i think of he's complete a piss adverse activity as president. The federal funds is larger than ever and we nevertheless have a bloated foreign places presence. he isn't the single which is basically accountable, inspite of the indisputable fact that. the different 3 that i actually experience set us up for undesirable situations have been Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt, and Richard Nixon.
