i don't and try to fast also - it's the least i can do to help me prepare and also try to emmulate Christ. it's a very simple self sacrifice - not even remotely comparable to what He did for us!

I don't. I never did becuase my family has never observed this tradition and my mom cooked the foods. It just never stucked with me and I didn't know about it until I was 16. I'm probably a bad Catholic but this has never formed part of my family. Personally, I don't think God cares if we don't eat meat on Fridays for a designated period. Is just something that I believe is an antiquated notion which has no justification with it-though I know the reasoning behind it. I eat meat on Fridays during Lent and I don't see it as comitting a sin.

I am not Catholic.
I do sometimes fast, as a focus to prayer, because the Bible give examples of good men doing this. I desire to be a good man and do what the Bible says to the best of my ability (most of the time).
I do not celebrate the Catholic tradition of not eating meat on Fridays because I can find no Biblical example of it.
Good question.

I know the answer to this and I don't practice anymore. It's not a celebration, it's a rule and you are usually committing a mortal sin when you decide to eat meat on Lenten Fridays. By the way, the rule still applies on all Friday's, however, you get the option of doing penance if you decide to eat meat.

I'm Catholic too and yes i still don't eat on Friday, but i f your over 18 you're suppose to fast too. i do this because it only seems right that we do this when Jesus fasted all these days when we only have to not eat meat and fast for once a week during these 40 days and nights. Especially since he gave up his lif for us.

Yes. It's a precept of the Church (that or making some other sacrifice), and besides that it's worked for alot of Catholics, so it's a good way to get into the spirit of lent.

I don't where you are, but here in the United States there is an OBLIGATION to abstain from meat on Fridays during Lent.

Yes, I do.
I love the feeling standing side by side of hundreds of millions of other Catholics in taking this time to fast and pray as part of our journey of renewal and spiritual rebirth.
The Catholic Church and many other Christians Churches follow the Biblical practice of Jesus Christ and the Jews in setting aside days where the entire Church fasts and prays as one in a attitude of constant renewal.
By the solemn forty days of Lent the Church unites herself each year to the mystery of Jesus in the desert and in spiritual preparation for the celebration of His Passion, Death, and Resurrection.
This season of penance is an intense moments of the Church's penitential practice and are particularly appropriate for spiritual exercises, penitential liturgies, pilgrimages as signs of penance, voluntary self-denial such as fasting and almsgiving, and charitable and missionary works.
With love in Christ.

If meat was the only thing you had to eat on Fridays, wouldn't you eat it?
