You really need to just step out of your comfort zone, which is your introversion, and into your danger zone, which is extroversion.
Maybe you should join a sports team to meet new people. It's really much easier to become extroverted when you are put together with a group of people and you have something in common. The words just start flowing after a while.

You have to build up your confidence when trying to socialize.

Have A Plan

There's no shame in having some conversation starters prepared in advance.. Have half a dozen lines rehearsed and ready to go for the next time you're faced with making conversation with the opposite gender. And make sure that these lines take the form of open-ended questions, so that the conversation will flow rather than stop abruptly.

For example, if you say, "How was your weekend?", they're most likely to say "Fine, thanks" and turn away. But instead say "So, what did you do this past weekend?" and they're more likely to start a conversation about the details of their activities, offering you many more opportunities to ask questions and engage them in the details of their life.

This approach is also foolproof for parties and work functions. The website below has some other great tips.

The secret is to take the first steps and to keep moving forward.

Smilling and dressing well also helps....it will build up your confidence and make you more attractive.

Don't try to change your whole personality based on one person. Everybody has introvert and extrovert qualities, one is just more pronounced. I understand believing that you want to become an extrovert but when you are older you will learn to appreciate your own type of personality and disposition more and more.

Give it a try wherever you feel most comfortable. Whether it's the library, your own house, or in bathroom.... whatever! But if you are not totally at ease on the bus, then that might not be the best place to try to extrovert yourself.

It may sound odd but one of the things that helped me get over my shyness was taking drama classes in high school.

Ask them a question about themself. Everyone loves to talk about themselves, because it's the one thing nobody knows better than you about. So, this will break the ice
