i tried system restore...and even downloaded avrack.. still doesnt work... I cant play music or hear sound but i can still burn....

the same thing happent to me not to long ago you can download the driver here >> http://www.free-codecs.com/Realtek_HD_Audio_Codecs_download.htm << and then install it and bam you have sound

Could be several things. If you have a seperate sound card in your computer, it may not be seated correctly. Take it out and re-install it and see if that works. If you dont have a card and are using the sound system on the mother board it may have gotten lost (computers loose things all the time), try the add/remove hdwr setting in the control pannel and see if window can re-install it. That may even fix the card problem too. Another test would be to go to the device mgr file and see if you have a yellow triangle with an ! mark in it at the sound branch on the tree.

I'd guess your sound card either took a dump or your driver is bad. try to get a new driver and if worse comes to worse a new sound card. Burning CD's really has nothing to do with sound output. It's just the movement of data

It definately sounds like you need to redownload your audio driver. Go to My Computer, right click, Properties, Hardware, Device Manager...then scroll down to your sounds... if theres something wrong with the driver it should tell you there.

you need to go into the bios and turn the on board sound on, to get to the bios restart your computer and keep pressing delete, bios should come up as a blue screen . hope that helps?
