Also, assuming that your sibling is not romantically interested in this friend and they don’t mind you dating them, what sort of complications might arise from such a pairing?

My brothers and I dated each others' friends a lot. We never lost friends and we never had problems amongst ourselves. I say it is a do.

Well if they don't mind you dating them then i would say go ahead and go out. the complications that might occur is that ur sibling might not get enough time with the person as a friend and maybe, all the other person will do is talk about you to your sibling and then your sibling will get tired of hearing the same stories from both you and the person. And i think that it will be the hardest on ur sibling. Because they might say that it is ok for now but nobody can tell what's going to happen later on.

I would say it's definitely ok. Just make sure you don't try to steal the friend from your sibling (even unitentionally).
Usually you should be fine, but it help especially if you get on well with your sibling so you can all hang out together.

You and your sibling will be fighting over the "friend". You'll fight over who gets to spend time of them more. The "friend" will feel like a tug-of-war rope.

I think this is quite a common occurence/practise. Definitely ok unless your sibbling specifically tell you not to.
