What's the difference between WindowsXp and Vista?

My friend has a Xp and I have a Vista. Her computer seems to be better than mine. I am just learning to use a computer so can you tell me did I make the right choice or should I have gotten a Xp too? The Vista is the latest system......right?

This will give you some idea. Many people seem to be unhappy with Vista and want to return to XP. Microsoft has extended non-technical support for XP for another 5 years so I don't think everyone is going to run out and replace their computers just to run Vista.
