We moved to the country and my dog chases skunks all the time. She has already been sprayed twice. It's really not fun to clean up. She usually minds me pretty good, but when it comes
to chasing skunks, she just won't listen. Any suggestions? Getting rid of the skunks is not an option.

This method actually works. You have to be with the dog with a spray bottle with perfumed water or 6-10 drops of peppermint oil. When he goes for a skunk, spray his behind with the perfumed water. Dogs dislike smells like that. He will associate chasing skunks with the perfume and cease his bad habit. I know this is a hassle, but it really works. After 3 times, he'll get the message. Good luck and have a nice spring.

do you also know that to get rid of the smell you use femine douche and not tomato juice. after twice you would think the dog would get the picture. You actually can get rid of the skunks they can be relocated. we have a man called the skunk man and he lifts the skunks up and puts them in a bag and takes them away. they can not spray if there back feet do not touch the ground. other than that all I can think of if you put a bell on your dog maybe it will scare the skunk before he gets there.

Are fences and leashes not an option?
Here's a good recipe to remove the skunk spray:

1 quart Hydrogen Peroxide
1/4 cup baking soda
1 tbsp liquid dish soap
Mix altogether (may need to double for larger dogs) and apply to the dog while dry (ie. dont bathe first) Let sit for 10 mins and rinse off.
