It depends. I use to skate for the Du-page figure skating club and they did not allow you to wear gloves. So i am not sure if they will even let you. Make sure you find out. In my opinion i think that you should not wear them. Not because it is tacky but because it does not look professional. I know the feeling of not being able to have gloves on when you skate. It is not fun..LOL i know what you mean you may be scared to do a jump or something. All you need to over come that is skate with out them a couple times. Good luck!! If you need anymore help just email me.

I don't wear gloves at competitions. At first it felt weird but now I'm used to it.
You can wear gloves its not against the rules.
I would recommend either long black or purple gloves with maybe some little sequins on it , short is ok too. Just remember to not have like green gloves with a purple dress because that would look bad. If your afraid about it looking tacky you can also buy tan or skin color gloves and you'll barely be able to see it.

Well, I personally don't wear gloves when competing because I just got used to it, but I have a friend that freaks out if she isn't wearing gloves while skating. What she did is she took mesh materal that was the exact same color as her skin, and had them made into gloves. She's recently gotten pretty creative with it too and added rhinestones. But when my coach told me that she was out on the ice wearing gloves, I was stunned because I couldn't see them at all (except when she got close and I could see that they were sparkling). I thought it was actually a good idea, and if you want to wear gloves, go ahead, nothing is stopping you.
By the way, some people have medical conditions that they have to wear gloves while skating, like another friend of mine. Her hands lost circulation if they weren't warm enough and she was a junior level skater. Good luck at your competition!

My coach would not let me wear gloves, even in practice. He said, "If you have gloves on, then you'll be okay with falling." He was and is a really big jerk. But it works. Gloves are not really appropriate for competitions, and remember the judges score you subjectively, so I really wouldn't reccommend them. However, if they have become your magic feather, then wear them. Just know that it won't be looked upon favorably by the judges. If you really want gloves, I'd reccommend getting gloves made in the same fabric and color as the dress. Atleast that way it will look like its part of the costume.

I don't usually wear gloves while skating in a competition. Most people I know don't wear gloves while skating in a competition either. Some competitions don't allow gloves, but if you really want to wear gloves I would get a pair that matches your skin color.

STOP FREAKING OUT NOW.
this is one thing you can 100% trust a stranger on
k so your first competition, if you freak out you wont do as well as you could. and personally i would say no to the gloves because you should get used to doing stuff without your gloves, it feels weird at first but you'll get used to it. it may help if like 1 or 2 sessions before your competition you dont wear your gloves the whole session to get used to it. now on competition day stay warm till you go onto the ice, dont be nervous and keep smiling even if you fall its not the end of the world, just try your best and you will succeed.
GOOD LUCK <3 <3

yes, that is kind of tacky. Most skaters do not wear gloves during competition, no matter how cold their hands get. I would suggest not wearing gloves, but it really depends on your coach. You should ask her becuase some coaches don't mind, while others would never let someone wear gloves to a competition. Good luck!

I've had many years competitive experience and I have never worn gloves except during warm-up. It was considered in bad form to wear them. I would advise that you get used to skating without them by skating without them for a while during a regular practice session for a few times. If you really need them, then try and make/find some that match your skin tone so no one will notice.
