I have wood floors and her nails clip clop every time she walks so it's driving me crazy. Would they still do that if they were the right length?

I bought a set of clippers with a guard so that I wouldn't get the vein and make him bleed. After I clip them I file them down to get the roughness away...but he still makes that noise on the hardwood floors.

My dog just had her nails clipped at the vet last week, and they are still making a sound on the floor. When my previous dog would come home from grooming, her nails also still made noise. So yes, they will most likely still clip clop.

Still, that’s no reason not to have them clipped. It’s better for their nails to be of a reasonable length, or walking will be uncomfortable. There are clippers available at any pet store (human nail scissors or clippers aren’t recommended), but it can be difficult, since most dogs resist being held still long enough to clip all of their nails. Also, I was always worried I would cut too much and hurt my dog. Most vet’s offices will do it for free or for a very low price, though. I get my dachshund’s done for $8 every few months.

If you go to a petsmart or a petco they usually have a grooming department there and you can ask them to show you how to do it. There are nail clippers or you could also look into a nail dremel. The first time you clip her nails I would take her out for a very long walk or play ball, get her really tired and then she won't fight it as much. If she starts to struggle and it is unbearable for you I would finish the nail you are on (you don't want her to think that whining and fighting makes you stop or she will always do it) and then tell her what a good girl she is and give her some loving or a treat. Wait several hours or the next day and then do one or 2 more. eventually she will get used to it.

No, they wouldn't. It is bad on the dog's feet and hips if their nails grow too long. You can purchase a dog nail clippers at any pet store. They come with directions on how to use usually. Just remember to make sure that you do not clip them too short. If you hit the vain they will start to bleed and they will be in pain. Start at the very tips and clip little by little. Don't get overly eager. Take your time. Your dog will probably be squirmy, so try to settle them with attention to a treat or something. Or, you can get another person to help you hold them. Don't make a big deal out of it and keep them calm.

They may still make some noise when she walks even if you cut them to the right length. You want to make sure that when you cut them that you do not cut the quick otherwise she will bleed alot. We use a dremel for our dogs nails. It sands them down pretty good. If after cutting them she still makes noise, Petsmart sells covers for dogs nails that you can put on her and she won't make any noise when walking on the floor.

Hi I have hardwood floors too and yes you can still hear the nails on the floor. Not as badly but you can still hear them. I try to keep my dogs nails cut short so they scratch the floors to badly but I think it's a loosing battle hear.

talking your dogs on walks more often keeps them short. also before you clip her nails take it to the vet and have him/her explain how to clip them right. you dont want to hurt the doggy

There are nail clippers for dogs that are used the same as for people. Or, you could take your dog to a vet and have its paws snipped.
