Just wondering if anyone knows the reasoning behind this, since they aren't associated with colds!

Because it is caused by a virus.

I think what happens (Because this just happened to me) during a cold your immune system kind of lets it's guard down giving the virus a chance to surface.

we usually get them in the winter right
so maybe to cold air makes our lips
crack and we then get the sores

If you have them you know everytime you get a cold or virus it pops its ugly little head maybe
