God will always be. God is a spirit. He created mankind [man & woman] from the dust of the earth. And when we die our spirits will go to God to be judged for the deeds that we have done. God will not die or cannot die. After we are judged then he appoints where our spirits [ which is the real you & me] will spend eternity. Read KJV Holy Bible, it has a lot of answers in thee that you are looking for.

Your earthly father is in your life giving you guidance for as long as he is alive to do so.
So why would you not wan the guidance from your Heavenly Father Jehovah since he has so much to share with you and everyone else on earth?

If God is eternal - how would this work?

You are born from your mother. Does she suddenly stop existing just because you are born?
