do you think they take away a positive image of whatever faith or non-faith you adhere to (from the Q&As of you and your peers)?

Why/why not?

This is a community. Those passing through miss that. If they stay and listen, and ask questions - and keep from getting their shorts in a knot, they will typically come away with a positive experience.

If on the other hand, they roll into town with their guns a blazing, they'll leave thinking we're all loonies.

I think most People must get a laugh out, if that can be deemed to be positive. If a large group of really developmentally challenged Folk all tuned in at the same time they might be saddened or shocked by it all, leaving them with a negative impact but what are the chances of that happening with such an illustrious brain pool as this? As to the why or why not, it is just a Q&A site filled with the opinions of individuals that all believe what they believe and can't be shouted down by any one group. Even if incredible wisdom or profound stupidity were to find a font here most folk don't read most of this stuff anyway so I'd hazard most of the strangers that stumble in go back out neutral, their own take on things intact. As it should be I think, thank goodness we all do think differently, keeps things fun!

The first time I came here I was shocked by all the things people were saying about islam. Slowly I got used to it. But I think anyone looking at the questions and answers in this forum would not get a good portrayal of most religions. A lot of times the information is just wrong and others its misunderstood. People walk away with that information in their mind and unless someone tells them they will continue to believe that that information was true. Its not often that there are questions and answers that show positive sides of any faith. Instead people like to focus on the negatives

No. I haven't taken away a positive image of my faith. The most obnoxious of each group seem to stand out far more than those who would be the best representatives.

They probably think that more then half of the people on here are nuts. Either that or they feel that there is much too much disrespect for one another her and they choose not to partake in any of it. While some might say okay there are some intelligent and some nice and sincere people here. However they might feel that they have to go through a whole bunch of trash to find any gems in the bunch.

From just me and my answers, I don't know what people think. I hope that my answers and my blogs allow people to understand me and where I am coming from better.

But I hope that no one judges any religion or thought only by what goes on here in R&S, there is clearly too much spite here.

There is also a lot of history here between regular members that others don't know about and it's tough when they try to jump in and make a judgment based just on the limited exchanges they have seen.

Interesting question.

My first impulse was to say yes because I remember when I first started coming here regularly in August. I was drawn in and hooked. Jim Darwin was one of the reasons that I got hooked in the beginning.

On the other side of the coin, it can get pretty intense here. I imagine that this section is not for the faint of heart or people who are not outgoing and very opinionated.

As a Christian I would think it could go a number of ways from positive to a nightmare depending on who was posting or answering at the time from my peers. As far as me, I believe the Bible and I love Jesus. I hope that is real evident in my post.

"The harvest... is coming!"

This is the sort of response that tends to leave a bad taste in the mouths of some newbies. I think those who stick it out for a few days can separate the jokesters from the meanies and the 'spiritual' from the religious.

But all you non-believers are going to Hell anyway, so this doesn't apply to you. =)

Excellent question. It is my opinion that most people stopping by here for the first time would be appalled at what they might find. It's only after being here awhile that you learn to take everything with a grain of salt.
