I'm working on a magazine article for an Atlanta publication and wanted to get a sort of poll. In addition to question, do you notice a decrease in attendance during the summer?

At the U.U church I attended for years, the co-pastors took the summer off. During the rest of the year, they taught a class called "Preaching for Parishioners." The class taught how a sermon is organized, public speaking tips, and how to pull hymns and liturgy together into a cohesive service. During their time off in the summer, the members of the congregation would use the skills they had learned to hold services in the minister's absence.

A win-win-win situation: vacation for the ministers, a new and valuable skill learned by the class members, and different faces and viewpoints for the church-goers to enjoy.

I've heard some churches change their time of their service because of decreased attendance. Don't know if it's cultural thing or not. What I think people should question more is why there are "black" churches and "white" churches? Shouldn't the true religion be integrated? Something to think about...

I don't know what that has to do with black churches. I am in a church made up of whites, (in Canada) and we have the problem of sharply reduced attendance in the summer.
