I raise goats and currently have some goat kids for sale. A woman picked two out and told me she would send me a deposit to reserve them. She kept emailing me and telling me that she was sending money and to please not sell them to anyone else so I agreed to hold them until I received the deposit. In the meantime I turned down 3 other people that wanted to reserve them. I never received the deposit and now she has finally emailed saying simply that she is sorry but she can't buy them at this time but she wants to buy some in the future. I certainly don't want these babies to go to a home where they are sincerely wanted so I'm not too upset except for the fact that I turned down 3 separate families that may have been very good homes for these little ones. I have made the decision that I will never do business with this person in the future. What is the most professional way to deal with this. Should I respond to the email at all? And if so, what is the best thing to say?

I meant to say I don't want them to go to a home where they *aren't* sincerely wanted.

I do require a deposit to reserve, the only reason I agreed to wait is because she said she was putting it in the mail - she lives too far away to make 2 trips here. These two goats are pet quality wethers and not expensive at all....the deposit was only $20. Not taking it personally at all, just don't want to do business with people that are going to give me the run around and not follow through because it makes me question how they would deal with a problem such as the goat needing vet care.

I think that you should not respond to the email because you are simply just giving her the attention that she wants she probably just wants to pick a cyber fight or something I would just leave it be and sell to someone that is really interested.

The whole point of a deposit is to reserve them. In future simply say you will not hold goats without a deposit and sell goats to whoever pays you first. As for this woman I would state that you will be happy to sell to her as long as payment in full is recieved upfront. If you are really uncertain as to how the goats will be treated and such simply say you have sold out, or are keeping them.

Ignore the lady. NEVER hold anything without a deposit in the future. If you make no exceptions, people who really intend to buy ALWAYS come up with some deposit, and they can add on to the deposit weekly to meet your minimum, but if they show no good faith money, move on to another customer.
PS Are goats that expensive??

i think the lady probably feels bad about what she did and is just saying she would like to purchase some in the future as a way of saying "although we did not actually do business, i consider you a decent person/business woman that i would like to deal with in the future"
if it were me, i would graciously thank her for letting you know what is going on and tell her to contact you in the future if there is anything you can do for her.
if she DOES contact you in the future, i would tell her that since you last "did business" your new policy is that a deposit must be made to reserve, period.
i would also try to take it a little less personally- sure the lady was rude and aggravated the hell out of you, but she probably did not intentionally set out to do that.

Some people will say just about anything to get you to do something. A real honest person would not expect you to do anything out of the norm and will understand that you have your needs to be accomplished.
Actions speaks louder then words; if such a person is an honest one, he or she will understand your actions and will not resent you for your acts. However, if such a person is to be mad...well... The Hell with them, they are the type of people you or your goats need in life.

continuously - in basic terms seek "scam" in the quest container for the previous 24 hours and additionally you will see how a lot of people fall for them daily. look on the kinfolk and Relationships or the Africa and midsection East boards and additionally you will locate people various situations a week asking approximately their on line bf/gf caught in Nigeria or in the wellbeing facility in Ghana or desiring money for a plane fee ticket, BTA, and so on. Or the folk questioning why they paid money to a "courier" and have not gained the inheritance or lottery winnings yet each and every person is the two naive, lonely or grasping yet there are people dropping hundreds of thousands a three hundred and sixty 5 days to Nigerian scams. The scams does not exist if people did no longer fall for them

I would tell her in the future if she want one that would be fine but that you will not hold them for her, if someone else comes by with the money you will sell them.
Sounds like she really wanted them but couldn't get the money for them so it doesn't particularly mean they will have a bad home.
It is really up to you if you want to do business in the future with her or not but this way you keep a potential buyer but she know that you won't hold them.

If I were you, I wouldn't respond at all. It is too tempting to give a lecture, and I don't think anything you could say would help either one of you. Just follow your plan and move forward.
