My advice to you is to get a perm, but don't get real tight curls, because you might not like it. I'd just get a body wave to start and if you like that, you may want to get it even curlier the next time. If you get a perm, depending on how much body your hair has, the perm should last about 6 months. I had 3 perms when I was younger and ended up having permanently curly hair. UGH! All I do now is straighten it...lol. Girls are never satisfied...

I have medium length hair that is very, very straight. I get a full perm every 5 to 6 months and get partial perms on just the top of my head every 3 months. I love my curls. My stylist uses Opti-Curl, a salon only perm. It leaves my hair very soft and non-frizzy. I also use the shampoo, conditioners and styling products that she sells and my hair looks wonderful. If I recall correctly, she uses the white and purple rods in my hair. They are not the biggest rods, but are not the smallest either.

To perm your hair you will need to go to a hairdresser and ask them to do it for you. You have to be careful though If you've ever dyed your hair some funky stuff can happen. Just know there is no way to control what kind of curls you get (like big loose curls or tight corckscrew curls) it's just tight corckscrew I believe. Your hair also has to be a certain length so you may have to cut your hair a little. Even with a perm you will have to get it re-done every few months. A better alternative is to just buy a curling iron and curl it everyday when you wake up. That way you can control your curls better and if you dont like how it looks or if you just want it straight for a day you can let it be.
I hope that helps!

the only way for you to have curls would be to perm your hair and i would suggest you go to a professional and they will analize your hair and give you whats best but i would say if you have thick hair i would do a spiral perm.

Go to your closest hair dresser and ask them for a perm. It costs a pretty large amount of money but it's all worth it. It lasts about 6 months or longer, and it's just like them putting these curlers in your hair, and some chemicals or whatever.... but its awesome...I've never actually experienced this because my hair is curly...i hate mine :P //_-
