I am referring particularly to the new generation, because many customs do change over time. Thank you in advance for your answers!

It is proper to bow when meeting a superior or an elder. Usually it is when you are being introduced, of course they don't bow to friends and people they have known for a long time.

I am English with a Korean fiance, and spend everyday with young Korean people and meeting new people all the time.

Bowing IS still necessary on a daily basis, but just to seniors at work, for example, both when you are saying 'hello' and 'goodbye'.Bowing is especially important upon an introduction for the first time to someone more senior than yourself (for example age or work status).

Generally they have adopted the Western practice of shaking hands when meeting foreigners (this is my experience anyway). If it's the new generation you are meeting, you really don't need to worry too much about etiquette. Just stand up and smile when you meet them.
One thing to remember is that Korean people will still address people they know very well as Mr Park or Mr Lee, for example. I always found this very confusing as there seems to be no strict rule about this. I have Korean students, some of whom I call Mrs.... and others by a given name. All of them I know equally well. Strange isn't it!
