If so I would like to know how this works because if I wear my glasses and try to look to the distance everything is blurred. Would contacts not have the same effect?

I think that the last time I was at the optometrist's, I asked about this very same thing. If I recall correctly, there are bifocal contact lenses. Bausch & Lomb makes some. You have hyperopia just like me. Call your optometry office on Monday and get more information, like if your vision insurance will cover these.

I have the same problem you do. Nothing really works very well. Like someone else suggested, the half size reading glasses work best.

You could wear a plus (+) strength contact for reading in one eye but that is still not perfect. There is nothing like reading using both eyes.

They do make bifocal contact lenses but they do NOT work.

Another thing: you could have lasik surgery to enable you to see up close with one eye.

You can get contact lenses for your problem. One for distance and one for close up. To adapt is no problem. I started out with one magnifying lens for close up and later got the second one for distance.

it would be less of a hassle if you just bought the cheap reading glasses at walmart and used them to read, but when you look up look over the top of the glasses so you can see

No your contacts would be made to fit the need of your eye sight. Go and see your eye doctor and he or she will explain it to you.
