How can I teach my dog that she needs to let me know when she has to go outside to the bathroom?

let me know as in sit by the door or something..
any ideas appreciated.. lately she has been peeing in the house without warning..
also, is it weird the she pees in spurts and that she will pee like 3-5 times while being outside in the backyard??

Your dog could be marking, not having accident. She might be coming into heat and is marking to advertise her availability. Or she could be marking because of something new in your house or she is frightened about something. If your dog is not spayed yet and you don't plan to breed her ask your vet when a good time would be to spayed her.
