they usually appreciate parents and realize things more when they are about 25 or they have children of their own...from 15-20 is the (what I call ) ungrateful and take advantage of stage...not saying that they all do it or that they do it on purpose, but seriously they are very immature at that age, for the most part

I love my two boys all the time. However, my 7 year old melts my heart when he tells me he loves me & that I am his best friend in the whole wide world. My 4 month old, gosh how can you not love that little smiling face. lol
I am a single mom, and I can only hope & pray that as my boys get older they'll see with their own eyes the sacrfies that I have made for both of them. The best thing they can give me as teens is Respect, b/c so many teens have no respect for their parents these days.
As my mom always said to get respect, you have to give respect.

My guess is if he's over 15 or 16 he probably want be showing a hole lot of love. You'll be lucky if he even acknowledges you. And I don't really think a lot of parents are looking for a thank you.

All the time, I never love them more or less from one second to the next. When do they tear at my heartstrings? When they say I love you, or you are the best mommy. Or when they run up and hug me for no reason, or when they reach a huge milestone, or when they make a picture for me and write mommy on it for the first time. Or the first smile, the first laugh, the first i love you. Or when I look at them and realize that God blessed me in so many ways with this beautiful child who resembles me in so many ways. Or when they sing "Jesus Loves Me" and sorta mess up the words. There are so many, I could go on forever.

I don't think they have to love us. It is our job to produce effective and contributing adults to society. It is NOT their job to love us. If they do love us thats a bonus. They shouldn't be required to do anything to show they love us. But a kiss on the cheeck once in a while is always nice.

I love my children no matter what...never more or less...but feel happiest when they are making good choices for their lives...as a parent...the thing that you don't want to see is your children suffering...even from their own bad choices...It is very painful...so I feel the most joy, peaceful and grateful when they are doing well...Be Blessed. :)

When they look happy to see me! When their face lights up with a smile. My stepkids are 16 and 18, and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy when they seem happy to see me. My younger kids are 6 and 8, and I love when their little faces light up with a smile, especially when they are greeting me, happy to see me, to share something with me about their day at school. I also like them when they are sleeping....LOL

what you suffer for them? I do not suffer for my children and I would not want them to have to take on such guilt, i have three teens, i love them always, especially when they show appreciation for our blessings and when they say thanks for being my mom, why would you want your children to think you suffer for them that's horrible, 15 is not an adult, if you are having trouble feeling appreciated maybe you should see a shrink, it's not your child's job

I love my children the most when they ask touching questions that you never thought you'd hear from their little thoughts.
