I'm having a problem with vista and downloading software can anyone help?

I just bought new compaq with Vista basic preloaded. When I download my favorite poker site I can play until I log out. When I return, click on icon it says site is already running on pc try rebooting. That doesn't help. When I click on icon in systems tray it says error. I've done all the updates suggested by vista tech help. One guy told me to go to poker site support I did they told me to go to vista lol. Then the last guy told me it was a compadability problem. Can I download new xp pro disk over vista? No one seems to have an answer to my vista problem.

I purchased a desktop PC with Vista last month. I was having the same kind of issues with Yahoo games until I thought to reinstall the applications that work with the games themselves. Now they work perfectly! Here are a few of my suggestions....

I updated the following applications to be compatible with Vista:

Java Runtime Environment Version 6
http://java.com/en/download/windows_manu...

Adobe Flash Player Active X Control
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/...

There are some other things that could be getting in the way. Your Phishing Filter might be blocking applications.

To fix this, go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Security section > Phishing Filter. Make sure it is disabled.

Here are some tips straight from Yahoo that I found helpful...

1. Click "Tools" in the menu bar, and then select "Internet Options."

2. Click the "Security" tab. For the Internet zone, be sure that the Security level is set to "Medium" or below. (If you've chosen to customize your security settings for the Internet zone, be sure that under the Java heading, "Java permissions" is not set to "Disable Java." You'll want to select one of the three safety levels instead. Also be sure that under the Scripting heading, "Scripting of Java Applets" is set to "Enable" or "Prompt.")

3. Next, click the "Advanced" tab.

4. Scroll down until you see the subheading "Java VM."


5. Check the boxes next to "Java logging enabled" and "Java console enabled." (Note: If you checked the box next to "Java JIT compiler enabled" and are experiencing freezing problems, uncheck that box.)


If none of that works, I would do a System Restore to bring your PC back to a previous state. Your documents and pictures will be fine. Anything you installed from the previous date to this date will need to be reinstalled.

Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Click the box at the bottom to see all available dates to revert back to.

Also, I would NOT download XP over Vista. You could be facing more complicated issues at that point.

Well you will learn Vista still has a LOT OF BUGS to work out still. Try a RESTORE. Go to the time before you downloaded the site and see what happens when you load the game up again. They are constantly trying to work out the bugs everyday on Vista now. So with the luck of the Irish, you might be able to play your game 6 months from now. hahaha

ok so we all know that vista is the newest thing from microsoft but its still a bay and well in truth it will have these kind of problems in truth all you can do is wait it out and see if microsoft comes out with a pach and makes your game and vista compatible. sry. make it xp. it will run much beter with xp.
