My daughter is the same age and acts the same way. She thinks she is two already, I think. =) Don't give in; it will only perpetuate the behavior. It will be loud and frustrating for a while, but stand your ground. My 10 yr old we gave in to and now she thinks the world will serve her. Good luck!

Oh yes, temper tantrums. Ignore them, walk away when he throws them. Tell him you will talk to him when he calms down. He throw the tantrum because he wants his way and maybe sometimes it is easier to give him his way. But don't, you have to be consisitent with your discipline. If walking away does not work, put him in his room until he screams it out. Then go in and talk to him. You can't really do a whole lot with a child this age because they just don't understand. But he will understand when you do not give him the attention he is trying for when he throws a tantrum. Eventually, hopefully he will realize that you won't listen when he does this and they will become fewer. Good luck! I also spank, I know that a lot of people don't, but I find it works for me and my household. You don't have to be hard, but a little "pat" on the bottom can work wonders.

Just remember he is acting like a child because he is a child. Just stay calm, talk to him tell him no but he is still young. I'm not into spanking, maybe as a very last resort but he is very young and still learning to rationalize things. He may not fully understand yet. Enjoy him, before you know it you will miss that little boy. Mine is 18 months and 5 years, it's normal for them to test and throw fits. They will get over it especially if you dont give him more attention at that time. Give him praise when he does good things

All I can say is TANTRUM!! He is having a baby fit. Have you ever watched the Americas Funniest Videos. It showed a baby that was throwing a tantrum and the mommy had the camera, she walked into the other room and he followed her, not crying anymore until he saw where she was. As soon as he saw her, he threw him self on the floor and did it again. it was hilarious!
He wants to get his way. Ignore him, and let him be. He will learn that he won't get his way by doing that kind of behavior! Or, if you are a mommy that doesn't mind. Pat his butt a few times and put him in bed until he stops whining!!

You have to be firm but fair. If he throws a tantrum, just let him do it but ignore him. You EVER give in, he knows (even at that age) that he has won - his fit works. He won't hurt himself and will quickly learn that such an action is a waste of time as long as he not rewarded by getting his way.

I would say he is trying to get his own way. He is throwing a temper tantrum to see if you will give in. Ignore the behavor and don't make a big deal out of it.
When he realizes, "hey, mom is not doing anything" then he will stop. He is trying to get a reaction out of you.

Designate a corner in your living room and when he acts up like that, send him there. It'll work really good. My son was the same way until we started the corner thing. It works when your out too...just pick a corner..lol. and if he throws himself on the ground, pick him up and place him in the corner. If he gets up, smack him on his diaper lightly until he stops fighting. Good luck!

When he has a fit, walk away and don't pay attention, he will soon learn he is not getting his way by this behavior.
