I'm 16 and was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism 2 years ago. I had gone from 110lbs to about 150lbs in a matter of months (Because my doctors had given me medication to stabilize me, but ended up making me hypothyroid by over doing it) . I had been working out alot and gradually losing weight. I think I weigh about 129lbs now, but I'd like to keep losing weight. I realize that I can only eat certain foods and no iodine. Does anyone have any tips to what will help me lose weight and what is okay for me to eat? Also, after 2 years my throat is still a little swollen, will that ever go down?

Overactive thyroid -
Eat plenty of raw cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, kale, cabbage, and collard greens, which contain a natural thyroid blocker. Avoid iodized salt and iodine-containing foods, including saltwater fish and shellfish.

How Supplements Can Help -

Vitamin C and the B vitamins riboflavin, (B2), niacin (B3), and pyridoxine (B6) are essential in making thyroid hormone. Because they regulate the immune system and improve thyroid function, they help with both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism.

An overactive thyroid (or too much thyroid replacement hormone) is actually quite dangerous to the skeletal system and will eventually accelerate osteoporosis. If you have any form of thyroid disease, you should be taking calcium supplementation.

Nutritionally oriented physicians believe that an overactive thyroid will eventually exhaust the adrenal gland (stress gland) system. They often recommend taking a combination product for adrenal support. This may include pantothenic acid, licorice, Siberian ginseng and raw adrenal gland (from sheep or cows).

Vitamins E and A and zinc work as a team to encourage production of thyroid hormone. People taking zinc for more than a month should take copper as well, because zinc slows copper absorption.

Hyperthyroidism to be clinically determined clinically demands the Thyroid functionality exams: TSH, T3, T4. in the event that they're deranged then you definitely ought to be on drugs. Radioactive iodine or have surgical treatment in spite of your wellbeing care expert thinks only right. checklist of meals, i'm not sure there is any specific restrict or suggestion. perchance Google & locate out extra.
