Because I have felt the presence of God for as long as I can remember. I know it's hard to understand if you have not had this experience. The bible has this verse: "we walk by faith, not by sight". Jesus said that heaven and earth would pass away, but His word would never pass away. That is why I believe more surely in the things of God, that are at this time unseen, than all the things around me I can test with my senses....which will some day be gone.

Hebrews 11
1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
GOD was not created...HE always was and always will be. HE has no beginning and no end. HE IS. HIS thoughts and ways are so much higher than ours that it is impossible for us to comprehend HIM. even HIS Word is only understood because HE reveals it to HIS children only when they have been made ready to receive it. as to why do we belieive in HIM....how can we not when HE is so powerfully and overwhelmingly present in our conscience and lives.
are you aware that on your body right now there are millions of parasites eating your dead skin? you cant see them...you cant feel them....you cant hear them... you cant taste them...BUT THEY EXIST!!! =-)

Nobody knows how life was created, but most of us believe we exist.
We all believe the human mind (not the brain) exists, but it cannot be seen, heard, smelled, tasted or felt.
We can't see oxygen, but know it's there.
We can't see electrons or neutrons or quarks, but believe they exist.
We can't see black holes but know they exist.
We can't see, hear, smell taste or feel gravity, but know it exists.
Do you believe these things exist?
Why?

re: the second part of your question: well....let's see..... then you don't believe in thoughts and dreams because you can't see them, feel them, taste them,etc.... and you don't believe in carbon monoxide.... you don't even believe in oxygen! and you don't believe that the moon has a dark side cause you've never seen it...... (you can't take someone's word for it, that's for sure!!) you don't believe that the earth has a core (have you ever seen it? are you taking someone's opinion???)
hmmm... and you don't believe that you had a great great great great great grandfather or grandmother cause there aren't any pictures... so maybe you don't believe that you even exist! course you don't believe in thoughts or dreams anyway so you are simply a puddle of zero floating in a sea of nothing.
god bless you

Just because we dont know the origin of a thing doesnt mean it doesnt exist. If I see a porsche all of a sudden parked in my driveway, am I to conclude it really doesnt exist because I dont know where it comes from? False logic.
We believe in God because we have faith in him and love him like a Father. Many of us have experienced God in many ways like answered prayer and miracles. God has done so much in our lives we couldnt in good conscience walk away from that which has been so good to us and proven himself over and over. but yoiu can only have that relationship with God if you are willing to start with a little faith and drop your pride.

It probably dates back to the early days of the race, when the coming of the rains was literally a matter of life and death. Under such circumstances, it is hardly surprising that people would go to any lengths to try to assure the crops, regardless of how illogical it might have been. For much more on this, see:

For the same reason you believe you exist here and now. Even though ten thousand years from now, no one will be able to proove you existed. It s what you feel.

Do you believe in air? Or atoms and molecules and bacteria? People couldn't see these things thousands of years ago, could they? Also, the world had to start from something right? As in only a 'supreme being' could make something from nothing.

God has always been here. No one created God. The Bible is God's life manual for us. God communicates with us through His Word, people and circumstances. : )
