I think in the first 2 seasons he used a Sig Sauer P228 and from the 3rd to 5th season it was a Heckler and Kock USP Compact, but I'm not totally sure. (Jack uses anything he can as a weapon, whatever is nearby!) Oh, and I think both are 9mm.

Jack Bauer uses a blank-firing stage prop. Television shows are not the real world. Get a life.
If you REALLY want to learn to shoot contact any gun shop in your area. Don't try to impress them with your (complete lack of) expertise - tell them you want to learn and ask for help. They'll turn you on to certified instructors who will steer you right. And do yourself a favor - don't mention TV shows or movies - it'll just make you look like an idiot.

I know how inticing it can be to want a similar firearm to one that you have seen. However, you might consider starting with what would suit YOU best, if you're just getting into guns. Find someone who shares the interest and talk with them or go shooting with them. Some gunstores can point you in the direction of local ranges or gun clubs too.
I hate it when people who are new to this pick up something that literally scares them away by either initial cost, expense of ammo or actual fear after firing their new weapon. We loose new shooters all the time becuse of things like this. (GUYS & GIRLS.....PLEASE DON'T START A NOVICE WITH YOUR 12GA SHOTGUN CUZ YOU THINK IT'LL BE FUNNY!!)

This current season he is using a Hk compact not sure of the caliber.

The last couple of years it has been an H&K 9 MM Lugar. But he uses whatever he can get his hands on too.

I seen him with a glock but the other day he had a Berretta standard issue for man in blue. One day I saw him with a 38 special. Another time he played russian rulette with a colt 45. I do not know. I'll like to see him with a laser one day.
