My bf (a really wonderful, genuine guy) has trouble sleeping. I do too. It takes a very long time for me to be able to fall asleep with someone else in bed with me. It usually takes me months to get used to it and I cannot afford to go months on a few hours of sleep a night. But, I want us to be able to spend nights together. He says he has never been abel to sleep with someone else in bed. Now when we are together we stay until 11 or midnight and then each go home. Does anyone else have this problem? What did/do you do?

(and don' give me the "he's seeing someone else-dump him B.S...he is not and neither am I. We are just both adults who work and need sleep-both mid 30's)

It took me a long time to get to the point where I could spend a night with my husband. At the beginning of our relationship we did in fact go our own ways at the end of the night. It wasn't his choice, but mine. I have a horrible time sleeping with anyone, and I still do, even after 25 years of being together. So, i know what you are going through. What we did was try and work our way towards spending time, the entire night together. We started going away on vacations together. That way we stayed together while we were away and didn't have to get up in the mornings to get to work. We got accustomed to sleeping with each other slowly. Eventually it became more comfortable, and it became more and more to the point where we wanted to be together. We still have times where we want to be apart, but most of the time we want to be together. Do it slowly and see how it works out. You can't rush it, but if you want it to work you have to try to do it slowly. You can learn to sleep with someone if you do truly love someone. You will get used to their patterns of breathing and movement as time goes by.

Try staying the night with each other on nights that neither of u have to work the next day. This way if u dont get much sleep, u wont suffer at work.
Do this until u find yourselves more comfortable and more used to sleeping with someone else.
Then, once u have crossed that getting used to part, then u will be able to spend the night with each other at any time.
Good luck to u.
