When you study it is best to do it in a quiet place where you feel comfortable and will not be disturbed. If you have a textbook and notes, study from both and try sample problems. Pay attention in class and make sure you can read your notes. It may help to type up your notes when you can so you can read them easier. Also, go to any extra help sessions and ask questions if you have them!

First of all, study no more than one hour at a time for any course.

It's easier to concentrate in small chunks.

Say, for example food. You can't take big chunks. You have to cut the food to small pieces, the same for studying. Study small chunks of information.

Say you daydream while you study. Go ahead and daydream and then study. Trust me, it's much easier. But don't do both at the same time.

Now, you might be worrying about a problem while studying or you might have your own personal problems. I suggets you talk about it with someone. Write it down in your journal/diary. If you're a guy, we know how you guys are, write it down in a piece and paper and throw it away. Trust me, it will help you a lot. No one will know then if you throw the paper away. If you have problems with your boyfriend/girlfriend, don't call them. You'll spend hours and hours talking to them and before you know it it will be past midnight and then you won't study. A waste of time.

DO NOT study while listening to music. Some people say it helps them concentrate, but they are wrong. It disturbs your concentration while studying.

Study in a regular place. Don't study in your bedroom. If you study while laying in your bed, your body knows it's your bed and you'll probably want to fall asleep. Do not study in the kitchen. The next minute you know you'll be opening the refrigerator looking for food when you're not hungry.

Before a test, make a test of your own. Most people don't do that. That's why they fail their tests. When it's time to take your tests you'll probably see similar questions you came up with your own and you'll probably remember what you answered. It helps a lot.

One last tip before I end this. DO NOT study the day before the test. If you know one week before you'll be having a test, study one hour a night. Remember, in small chunks.

If you're the type of person who can't sit down while studying for a whole hour, I suggest you take one minute breaks every 10 minutes or so. It may sound strange, but exercise during that one minute, do something during your break.

Sorry, one more thing.

Review your lecture notes while they're still fresh. If you review them one week later after you receive them, you'll forget most of the things your teacher taught you and then you'll be stuck.

So remember, follow these tips, and most likely you'll be doing good on your tests. Let me know if it helped. :)

1-Concentrate. When you are in class, tune out every single distraction except the lesson being given-do not look around or think of anything but what the teacher is saying or doing.
2-Plan your semester---grid out the class days, the holiday breaks, the projects, the tests, the date of "finals" for each class on ONE large calendar that shows the semester all at once. Every time a teacher announces an assignment, put it on the "grid." Look at your class work as a whole, and try to picture how much time you have to devote to each subject. This will give you a feeling of control, and you can work hardest on the subjects that are most difficult for you.
3-Organize your studying--the key is a little each day, every single day.
4-Over-prepare. Go ahead a chapter in your texts for every class, so you will get more out of what the teacher is telling you..
