Why is polygamy illegal in the US but other cultures think its ok? I know muslims can only as long as they can provide for each wife equally emotionally, physically, financially, and even sexually. What is the US's reason for making it illegal?

I'm glad that this is illegal. I could never picture being able to share my guy with other ladies. I would poke their eyes out. =P I don't see how a man can honestly please and meet every one in the households emotional and physical needs. I think it would have its positive aspects like a family support system but I can see far more negatives with polygamy. I personally believe that it is morally wrong and you know he will always have a favorite. =P

Long story short, it was really as a way to repress the Mormon faith. It was (and in some eyes, still) viewed as cult because of this practice. While Mormons practiced this, other Christian churches did not.

My best guess would be that it doesn't fit in with the beliefs expressed in the Christian Bible. Personally I wouldn't have problem with it being legal. Although I wouldn't want to share a lady, or be shared.

The goverment felt the need to oppress the Mormon religion, as back then our goverment was dominated by Christian conservatives that felt the Mormon beliefs clashed with theirs.

Because in certain situations women are misused and mistreated and plus to a certain extent it's a sick practice. At least in my opinion.
