I'm not a morning person either, but there's a few things I do that helps. First and foremost, make sure you're getting enough sleep. This differs for everyone and is probably a bit longer than the "six to eight" that is quoted a lot. Sleep until you feel rested and wake up naturally to work out how much you need.

Secondly, have a think about what you eat and drink before you go to sleep. If you often wake up with a headache you're probably getting dehydrated in your sleep and you might want to keep a glass of water by your bed. If you happen to eat sweet or salty junk food before you go to sleep, it can throw off your insulin levels or help dehydrate you, adding to that crummy feeling in the morning.

The last thing I do is to try and give myself some time in the morning to wake up. I know, you're busy, but if you want to it might be convenient to take your showers in the mornings. Keeps everyone away from you for a little while and it helps to wake you up too.

Good luck rising and shining!

**Edit** oh, one thing that slipped my mind. It could be possible that you've got a sleep condition like sleep apnea and are not getting a good quality of sleep. If you keep having problems, set a tape recorder beside your bed or ask someone who hears you sleep to see if you snore really loudly. If you have a problem like that you might need to see a doctor about it.

It's simple really - you're just not a morning person! I'm exactly the same! It could also be that you're not getting enough good quality sleep, which of course makes it hard for you to wake up and a bit grumpy. You have a right to feel the way you want. If it's a problem for the other people in your house, just explain that this is the way you are and ask them to not speak to you for a while after you wake up. May seem extreme, but isn't that better than fighting or pissing people off?

Sounds like your not a morning person. Maybe your not getting enough sleep. I am a person that needs 8 hours each night to not feel that way. Eat healthy, Get exercise and listen to happy music. Try smiling at strangers and see how many smile back. Stop being angry and try thinking happy thoughts. Life is too short so change your self by reading self help books. One in particular called The Angry Book.

I would say you are not a morning person as I have children and etc just like you. When you finally get woke up you are probably very nice. Go to bed early enough so when you get up no one else is around to bother you. Do this until you know what time you need to get up and adjust to the real world.Your not alone in this.

You're simply not a morning person. It takes your body longer to walk up then someone elses. You don't really have a problem, it's just your nature. I'm the same way, but give me an hour or so and I'm good for the day.

I've had that problem, but now I'm feeling a little more cheerful in the morning. If it helps at all, try ignoring everybody until you feel ready to greet the day. Or, stay in your room or bed until you want to get up with a smile.

The reason you are tired and irritable in the morning is because you have not had enough sleep, try going to bed earlier so that you get your full sleep requirement.

Its simple. You are just not a morning person, and there is nothing wrong with that. Just tell everyone around you , that you prefer to not talk till you are ready. Hopefully they will understand.
