Do a lot of girls lie...?

about having a boyfriend at the age of 14. Because I know a couple of girls who say that they went out with this guy from another town but come to find out they have never had a boyfriend before. So why do they do this?

Girls of ALL age groups lie about having boyfriends-mostly to each other-because they don't want to seem undesirable or desperate. What really makes a woman look good, however, is when she is totally comfortable with saying she is not dating anyone! Oddly enough, this makes other females jealous even more because it means that that woman has more self esteem! Do yourself a favor and never lie about whether you have a boyfriend - you will end up looking better than all the other silly girls who did lie!

In our culture a woman is supposed to be attractive to men, what better way to appear attractive than to say you are taken? The really sad thing about this all they are saying is that they are afraid of social opinions, they are afraid of just being happy "single" and are buying into an idea that will ultimately make them settle for a man that is less than what they really wanted/needed. It is hard to be independent and stand above all this pathetic "man-mongering" but hopefully you can. By learning to love life single you can relly recognize the right person for you when the time comes because you aren't desperate to settle. Good luck.

They're afraid of being made fun of. The other girls in school (or their own moms) have covinced them that there must be something wrong with a girl who doesn't have a boyfriend. There's very little that girls want more at that age than to fit in with the other girls. They'll get over it when they get older.

Because maybe they just think they should have one[a boyfriend] or perhaps they're "puffing" things up to make them look more experienced or sophisticated. I'm a little surprised though. I thought when it comes to dating that hyperbole was a guy thing.

it's a females inherent nature to lie, they come up with hundreds of reasons it's ok for them to lie, but when men do, men are dishonest, it's a double standard. don't try to figure them out either, they will change their stripes right in front of you. that's a reality of life. I think your little friends don't think it's a lie, they think it's politics. and politicians have a right to lie. don't get me wrong, lots of men lie too, so you can't fault only women. you can only fault liars. some women will tell you they are ashamed of never having a b/f so they lie about it like that justifies it. if your little friends built some character, they might not have to lie about such things.

They do this becuase they want to feel special, maybe they dream to have a boyfriend but they havent and everyone ealse has. They want to look like they have been able to get a guy, even though they havent. And, probably want attention for it:) Have a nice night:)

They think it is cool and they want attention. I know many girls who have done the same thing. The just want to fit in and be like everyone else.
