It could be his anal glands, two small glands just inside your pet's anus. They secrete thick and foul smelling matter. Many small dogs have largely lost their ability to empty these sacs voluntarily. Take them to a vet or a grooming shop to have them expressed. It costs about $10-15.
If not taken care of, the glsnds become impacted and uncomfortable. Dogs with impacted anal sacs usually scoot their rear on the ground in an attempt to empty the glands. Some dogs will lick their anal area and other dogs will chase their tails.

This may be an anal gland problem. Does the puppy scoot across the floor? If so, that's the problem. You need to go to the vet and have the anal glands expressed. Usually this happens naturally when they have a bowl movement but sometimes they don't. Best to call the vet. Good Luck.

Dogs have anal sacs, kind of like stink glands on a skunk. They fill help lubricate when going potty. However, sometimes they do not always express themselves and the sacs fill with fluid and they need to be manually expressed. You can take them to the vet (without an appt) and ask them to express them, may cost $10-$15

This is gonna sound nasty but dogs have anal glands that need to be expressed. Some experienced needs to do it. The vet charges about $10. It is very common in small breeds and for some crazy reson larger dogs do it naturally. Also, thats not it odor = infection.

He needs to go to the vets and have his anal glands expressed. The smell is from these glands and when they get full they sometimes leak some of the gunk in them and it smells just like nasty fishy stuff.
Tell her to make an appointment for the vets.

It is his anal glands. You need to take him to a vet or dog groomer to get them expressed. That usually costs between $10 and $20 depending on where you go and where you live.
Just a note about bathing: you shouldn't bathe your dog more than a few times a year or they will lose the natural skin oils on their body - which they need in order to keep a healthy coat and a healthy body.

If you bath him weekly and he still has the smell, perhaps its time to take him to vet. Have you watched to see if he can go potty OK? How does his breath smell? If it smells really bad --he may have stomach problems. The more you wash a dog the more you dry out his skin. You should only wash a dog once a month unless he gets into something he shouldn't. But I still think you should have him checked out by vet. Better safe than sorry.

Have you tried to clean her anal glands? that is what keeps the smell on dogs. when giving her a bath just mash around her anus and a brownish fluid will come out. it may have a smell but the smell will be gone from her. if you dont want to do it take her to the vet and they will do it for you. hope this helps, and good luck

By the by, one way of helping a dog express its glands naturally is to feed a more high fibre diet to create firmer stools to press on the glands and express naturally. Yes the dog will smell for a while but it should eventually go away, just bath him more often.

Its just the "history" of the dog. You get what I mean right? It had problems when the dog was just a little baby. And you should take it a bath for 3 or 4 days a week so it doesn't smell so bad. And just go to your vet so they can check it up too so you'll know what you have to do next.
