well as a fanatic about soccer i can understand that but, he really is never gonna stop talking about soccer. maybe you should try watching it or playing so that you are able to talk with him more.its pretty interesting if you understand how hard players work to do the amazing things they do or the dumb ones. give it a try ^.^

Well, I'm probably way off base on this one, but what about the direct approach. Something like, John (pretend name for hypothetical purposes) do you ever think about anything else than soccer? Do you ever think about girls? I don't want to scare you John, but I'm sort of sweet on you.

Well, I'm attracted to guys who love sports, but that's just because I love sports. You have two choices, watch and learn about soccer in order to have fun with him; or just be honest with him and tell him that it annoys you that he always talks about soccer. If he understands you, he will eventually "change" his topics, if not...just say bye bye....because in his mind, you aren't his first priority.
