My mom had that surgery and she was feeling fine 12 hours after the surgery. I know other people that have had some discomfort though. You have to be checked out by an optometrist first to see if you qualify for the procedure. Good luck!

What is your question? Are you more concerned about the pain of surgery, or of whether or not you can have the surgery?

I presume you are asking about LASIK. During this procedure the cornea is anesthetized and you do not feel pain.

When you read the brochure or watch the movie of exactly what they are doing, though, it might really gross you out. I mean, they grab your eyeball with a suction cup, slice off the top of your cornea, burn it with a laser, then plop the cornea back down and hope it stays put.

Whether or not you can have it depends on what your eye doctor tells you. I would expect that the worse your vision is in the first place, the more radical the surgery would have to be, and the results might be harder to predict, but that is a guess.

Eye docs love this procedure. While Medicare is paying them less and less every year to suck out old peoples' cataracts, they can charge whatever they want for Lasik. It's like doing boob jobs - better than printing your own money.

Suggest you start out with contact lenses before making permanent changes to your eyeballs.

Laser eye surgery is reserved for a last resort so its never too late, the only pain you may feel is your eyes adjusting to the new precision, there is a 96 percent success rate so not to worry you will be fine under the care of a surgeon who will prepare you with all the stats and medication you will need. Good luck.

I would definitely recommend it. My mom had laser eye surgery and she said that it was quick and easy. It only stings for a few hours afterward, after that you just have to put in eye drops to keep things lubricated. She has 20/20 vision now and only occasionally needs reading glasses. Good luck! I hope your eyesight improves.
