if you shop at the Gap when you purchase some clothes by the label (RED) some of the proceeds benefit people in Africa. hey, you can buy clothes and help someone at the same time...how cool is that?!!!!

Before you send any aid to Africa, realize that most of it goes into the pockets of the rich and already powerful. So check out the group you are donating to.

I'm with the others, help a kid get an education here; or help a hospice for poor dying AIDs sufferers in the USA or whatever country you are in. Do something YOURSELF to help, not just send money half way around the world and they have it buy a golden toilet seat for a dictator.

That's an excellent question with no easy answer. Unfortunately a lot of aid directed to Africa is misappropriated and does not get to the people it is meant to. There are serious political problems that need solving before any permanent solution can be found to the poverty/AIDS issue in Africa.. anything we do in the meantime is a bandaid solution. I have no answer to that solution, but in the meanwhile perhaps 'adopting' one child through World Vision or a similar organization would be a good start.

Save Africa one child at a time :)

It's a waste of time. Helping africans now, creates more suffering in the future. The best we can do is get some b52s, fill them all up with millions of condoms and birth control pills and shower the entire continent. That will stop more suffering than a 1000 Aid relief concerts.

WHY? Aren't there enough poor or sick ppl right where you live? Take care of our own first, THEN worry about a bunch of Africans. Charity starts at home, and that's where we keep it.. our own community, and country. Africans are not our responsibility.

You can help them by ignoring them until disease and starvation reduce their population enough for the continent to sustain.

Decades of medicine and food aid have only made matters worse. I can't see why people who can't feed 'em still breed 'em.

You can start a fundraiser. Or you can start up a bake sale organization & have the proceeds be donated to Africa.

They are beyond hope. Stop throwing good money after bad. Send your money to Latin America or somewhere in the US

helping them with food and shelter will not help in the long run ... all that will do is make them breed faster and compound the problem ... their whole infrastructure and govt needs to be fixed and let them help themselves .. thats the only real fix ...

Start a charity drive to buy and supply unending amounts of condoms.......to curb population growth.
