im 22, graduated and just secured with a job, still my parents don't let me move out. They just want me to stay at home with them till forever.
But I feel i am already grown-up and can make my own decisions. I always respect them, but this time I just want to learn to be independent, why cant they respect me also and let me decide wot i want in my life.
I have been with my boyfriend, who has bought a flat 2 years ago, for 4, 1/2 years, still they never allow me to move in with him.
I respect them, so instead I want to rent a flat with some friends. but they just get very angry when I tried to talk to them about it although I promised them that even if i move out, I will still care for the family. in fact, very often they worry that when i move out, i wont have money left to give to them. Currently, although i work part-time, i need to give £100 to them each month. Cant imagine how much they want when i work full-time soon.
I dont mind this, but just want to have my independence :(

Um, sweet heart, read the very first line of this post "im 22, graduated and just secured with a job, still my parents don't let me move out." and tell me with you think. You are of legal age to make your own decisions and when you were born your parents expected that one day you would "fly the coop". Never did anyone say you have to live with your parents forever. Obviously they worry about you but they have to realize that you are an adult now- an adult capable of making her own decisions. They should be happy you waited this long. Sit down with them and talk to them and then pack your bags and go. At this age you shouldnt be "asking" your parents if you can move out- you should be telling them.
Good luck to you!!!!

OK. Here's it in a "nutshell". Do WHATEVER you want. You are a grown adult. Sure, they will be furious when you first move out...but they will get over it if the really love you. It may take them some time; as all people are different; but they eventually will get over it! Live your life. Life is too short to go around pleasing your parents ALL of the time. I have a friend who did exactly what her mother wanted all of her life. Well, now shes 32 years old, unmarried and back living with her parents. The only REAL relationship she HAD has ended because her mother kept interfering. Give up on keeping them happy. Make YOURSELF happy. You are the only person in the world that you NEED to make happy.
Enjoy life...it's too short!
Have fun!

I think that they are just having a hard time accepting that you are growing up. Maybe they don't want you to live alone. I think the best thing to do is talk to them, tell them how you feel and ask why they have such a problem and then try and fix it!

i understand what you are going threw , i went threw it myself , but at 21 i just told them i was moving out into a flat, yes they were mad but i was a adult. and so are you yes they will be mad and prob hurt, but you are a adult now u dont have to answer to them no more. not in a nasty way. but you will find you will get on better with them when you move out, i did with mine, yes i had it all thrown in my face, u wont manage, u will be back, all that but that just made me more determand to prove to them that i could do it on my own and i did. just sit them down and just say i know you love me, but i think its time i make my own way in the world, to learn to make yr own mistakes and discoverys.let them know you will always be there for them, and you will visit and phone, but u just need yr own independance. i wish you all the luck in the world. xx

ok well first of, ur over 18. u can do whatever you wanna do. if your parents somehow have control of your not moving out you can take it to court or just pack your bags someday and leave. once your gone you could still talk to them and stuff you just wouldnt live there. your over 18, they should understand. it will talk time but they should understand.
