I don't see anyone stealing land, and I've never accused anyone of such. Also, it has nothing to do with nationality. Its a matter of legality. Of course there are many legal immigrants here - hispanic and otherwise - that deserve to be here. And, I'm sure that there are many legal immigrants (of many nationalities), that are feeling frustrated with those people (of many nationalities) that refuse to follow US laws and sneak across the borders, illegally.

I agree somewhat with your question. However, this is the year 2007, I can't continue to dwell in the past and refuse to learn from the mistakes of the dead ancestors who perished because they trusted the first invaders.
Every other night, I must report illegal aliens who trespass on MY land. That's right, MY land, bought and paid for at the border that belongs to me a Lakota, and my husband an Apache.
The only difference between what the whites did, compared to what the illegal aliens are doing now, is the absence of weapons. It is an invasion. Just because the invaders have darker skin does not mean that they are innocent of committing crimes, the first crime --breaking immigration laws.
La Raza is for the brown race, not the red race. I am not going to lay down and let another invader into MY land without a fight. I am not going to learn another white language -- Spanish, or adapt to another foreign culture just to accommodate a group of people who can't run their own country.
The majority of Native Americans that answer in this section (8 out of 10) are against the illegal invasion. My ancestors already had their war against the U.S. military, and unfortunately they lost. This is now the USA, and the American citizens are being screwed over! Anyone who supports the invasion is an American traitor, naive and living in the past, or a foreign criminal.
Tom - Why must the whites take away the red man's way of life, and now attempt to take away the red man's history? The land is not good enough? If there were whites here prior to them coming over on ships, it would be a part of my tribe's history. They are not part of my tribe's history, and never will be. No psuedo scientific "facts" by racist whites are going to change it. Whites can argue about being first, and some ice age migration *theory* until they are blue in the face. My history will remain in tact, as spoken by my tribe's elders. There were no whites in America waiting on the shores when the explorers arrived, red people were here for thousands of years --are you jealous? get over it already.

As a Native woman I can tell you this is true.
Many people in this country today refuse to admit the origins of this country. And many manipulate history and information to defend the origins of this country. Well there is no defending Genocide, Cultural Genocide, Land Theft, Torture, Rape, Kidnapping and more!
And to be so hypocritical as to turn the tables and say that Latino people are wrong for being in this country.
Well they need to learn their history because before colonizers drew arbitrary lines in the sand this was all one nation inhabited by Native people. This means Mexican people have more of a right to this land than many others. This is true even for "illegals". This is their homeland. They are only here "illegally" because of oppression. So, in response to a users post: the law was created by whom? Therefore it is still a matter of nationality, not just legality.
And people need to seriously get Educated. Illegal immigrants Do Nothing to harm this country or the citizens of it. Citizens just perpetuate stereotypes and false information to support their racism and oppression.
Also, just because some people were born in America and they believe their ancestors came here legally does not make them special. They are still contributing to oppression by ignoring the horrible foundation of this country, by justifying their existence here, and by not being educated about immigration.
And the guy that is quoting some crap from the internet on here, doesn't mean your quote is true, doesn't mean it comes from a Native person who is involved in their culture, doesn't mean it represents all or even most of Native people. I mean what is this guys point?
If we want to talk about who belongs in this country let's make it standard. EVERY person in the U.S. should have to justify why they are here. And all the people who do nothing for their community, work for greed, spread cultural ignorance well since they aren't doing anything good for the country let's send them away somewhere. (don't actually believe this, just making a point).
No one has a Right to land. We have a Responsibility to take care of it and each other. Why do we not stand as allies instead of enemies?

Playing Comanches and Mexicans
A couple of years ago, I came across BadEagle , David Yeagley’s blog; I don’t even remember what it was that brought me there; I think it was a link to something he’d written about Ward Churchill. I’d never heard of him before, and was intrigued as I began to read. His pride in both his heritage and in the USA was unique, and gave a window into the Indian experience to which I hadn’t been exposed.
So when I came across his take on the calls for Aztlan, well, I just had to share:
Now some Mexicans want the land back. As a Comanche Indian, I have a problem with that. We Comanches pushed the Spaniards out of Texas and eastern New Mexico over 200 years ago. Neither Spaniards nor Mexicans ever managed to return. Comanches used to ride across the Rio Grande every fall to attack Mexican villages, killing, scalping, plundering and carrying off captives and livestock. "Upwards of ten thousand head of horses and mules have already been carried off," wrote one English eyewitness. "…everywhere the people have been killed or captured… ranchos barricaded, and the inhabitants afraid to venture out of their doors." The truth is, Mexicans were helpless against us. So where did they get this idea that they used to own our land?

Um, my Native ancestors were already here when the white men came so they didn't come here illegally. My white ancestors immigrated here legally so again, no killing or illegal immigration. Nobody thinks all the hispanics are here illegally and I have no problem with the ones who came here LEGALLY. It is the people (white, yellow, purple, brown, black, etc.) who come here ILLEGALLY I have a problem with. Why do so many hispanics think when people get mad about illegal immigrants we only mean hispanics? We mean ANYONE who is here illegally.

for a similar reason that some people attempt to justify what illegals are doing via making use of what happened to the yank Indians as an excuse for their habit. You seem to forget approximately what mexico did to those comparable American Indians. and how they stole the southwest and killed many American Indians like the kinfolk of Geronimo and others. how are you able to justify their movements lower back then. They did a similar and a large style of are nonetheless doing it and claiming this became their land. lmao! Mexicans are aztecs, no longer comparable to American Indians!

Grandfather was from Switzerland. Grandmother was from Germany. Both came here legally through Ellis Island but neither of them ever saw a Native American much less stole their land. I. on the other hand, see illegal immigrants at every corner sucking the economy out of this country and are they happy??? No... they want more and more and more.... all FREE of course !! Before you post such an arrogant and asinine rant, read a little history,,, and brush up on that grammar. It's " before".... not B4... pretty sad, dude when you are trying to appear somewhat intelligent. Tsk-tsk.
