I know the problem, my little Jack is like that too. I have tried many many many toys, but she just doesn't seem to want to play with them anymore. If your little guy is at all like my little girl, theres not a whole lot that you can do. I take Radio to my moms house all the time and she plays with my moms dogs. Maybe you could try introducing yours to other dogs and make play dates. Thats really the only way that I can get Radio to play.

A lot depends on how much you are interacting with him when he plays with the toys. If you leave him to his own devices, chances are he will become bored quite easily. There is a type of toy that is like a hollowed out barrel with a lip on each side of the opening. You can put treats inside and the pup has to work to get little bits out. This toy works well for dogs that have seperation anxiety as it keeps them busy and interested in a goal.

Puppy Kindergarten - Tip #1 Take all of those fabulous toys and put them away, then give puppy back two (and only two). In about a week, take away the two and retrieve two different ones out of your hiding place. You can keep doing this forever with just what you have in the house now. Each time you give him the ones that you have been hiding, he'll think he has a brand new toy and will play with it almost constantly.
Just so you know- Anything that the pup or dog has all of the time becomes ordinary and therefore boring. Just remove it for a week and when it reappears... WOW! what excitement it will cause.
I've done this. I've seen this. I teach this in puppy kindergarten. Good Luck.

I work at a dog kennel and today I was actually playing with a jack russell! It was the weirdest thing because she wouldn't play with any of the toys that the other dogs were. Then... she found our BIG red plastic ball. She LOVED it! IT was bigger than her. I have no idea where we got it but it was so cute watching her try to move it around the yard. It definitely kept her entertained for at least an hour. Maybe you can try a soccer ball or something similar??

That's just the personality of a Jack-Russell. They get bored very easily (don't ever leave him in the house alone!!). He'll calm down with age. Just keep loving him and offering him new toys. Maybe a few at a time?

I have a jack Russell the same age as yours and she, like most of her breed has ADD. One thing that she absolutely LOVES more than life itself are these little rubber balls with legs from petsmart. I think it's called a "cuz" or at least that's the brand. they make them in various sizes, I get the smallest ones that are about golf ball sized, some have little horns. i don't know what the appeal is but I've never seen a dog be so obsessed with anything. It's pretty cute, she'll play with them non-stop until she torn the legs off and broken the squeaker. She likes it when people play with it with her, but she is also perfectly content amusing herself with it. If your dogs like mine, and it sounds like he is, this should keep him occupied. I'd say the only drawback is the loud squeaking, but I think that's what keeps her interested. Also, if you haven't already, try getting him a bone or rawhide that will take him a long time to eat. My dog spends a lot of time laying on the ground, doing the splits with her two back legs gnawing on a bone.

How often do YOU play with your dog. Those types of dogs are easily bored and are seeking attention all of the time. You just need to tire him/her out more often. Taking your dog on walks can have this affect. Then, bring them back and give him/her one toy. More times than not, he/she will end up just falling asleep. If not, more attention needs to be paid. This can be done in more than one way. I suggest you check out Caesar Milan's website. (The Dog Whisperer) for better ideas. There IS a way to keep your dog active and happy and not bored all of the time. www.dogpsychologycenter.com

ha ha. it's like jack russells or most terriers for that matter have ADD..
that's not uncommon for the breed and also the age. which is stilll very young.
i might suggest a kong and put treats in it that will keep the pup busy..
or a bone will also keep her busy.. my jack russell just got this really obnoxious squeeky toy that actually keeps her occupied if you are willing to deal with that.
it's basically trial and error.. see what your pup likes. good luck.

Jack Russells are bred to be on the move. I think that rather than getting him a bunch of new toys you should try to spend more time talking him on walks. That way, he'll come home tired and just go to sleep.
Those Kong balls really are great, though. :)

well, since i dont know your dog very well, i am going to say this-any toys he plays with the most, keep them, and store the others.then, if he needs something else, take out a different type of toy, and put the rest away.observe which ones he plays with the longest, and which ones he seems to have more fun with.
