fresh seed is important to the health of birds of anykind. Especially keep clean the bottom of the cage.. I dump the "used ' seeds out of the feeder at least every other day. When going out of town we have bigger cups for seed and water/ after watching how much the birds eat or use in a few days. then you worry less when away.

Hi there.Zebra finches have very high metabolic rates and need food available 24/7. Slowly switch them to a pellet food made for them by 1/4 a week. Add no more than 10% seed and 10-20% fresh fruits and veggies. Avoid chocolate and avocado since these are toxic to them. All seed diets lead to malnutrition. have a great relationship with your birds and a great year as well.

Birds in general, have a tendency to pick at their food throughout the day. So because of this, I always have food available for my three zebra finches. They also need a cuddle bone, grit to help them digest their food and give a few extra needed nutrients. For a treat, my finches love Millet seed (which you can purchase at your local bird supply store) and, believe it or not, they love scrambled eggs for a treat.

Yes absolutly you should leave food and water for them all the time. A zebra can and will starve to death in 24 hors if left with no food, after all their hearts beat somthing like 1200 tomea a minute. talk about a fast metabalism

Birds eat two or three times their body weight in food daily. You need to have fresh food and water at all times for them.

yup if the cage didnt come with the little bowls well put two in there. one for seeds and one for water. put leave them on opposite ends so they wont mix up. oh and also make sure the bowls are big enough for it to fit in. mines used to love to take baths in his water and also sometimes in his food. so make sure it has clean water and enough food.

Yes, leave food in there all the time. Otherwise, you will starve your birds!

Also, make sure they have fresh water and food daily. Wash the water cup daily to prevent illness.

Again, you can always email me if you have questions. I just added you as one of my contacts, thanks for adding me to yours!
