Sometimes I wish I could go back and help myself sometimes in highschool...mostly with all the social crap that can go on.
Try not to take offense to anything, and don't listen to bullies or people that think they are better than you. They do get over it later and I've talked to 'bullies' years after highschool and they regret what they did and some grew up and became really awesome people. But I suppose it is all about growing up. Try to do your best at school, if you do your best and you don't get a A then don't worry.......try your best and don't get too down if sometimes things don't go your way or stuff seems to get worse. Have fun in highschool! FUN FUN FUN. I'm sure you will be fine! Meet cool new people, go out on exursions and you do learn cool stuff.

Hey!! im going to be a sophomore in September so here are a couple of tips: -Bring a backpack on the first day of school cause teachers will probably give you heavy textbooks -If you've been put in a different class than your friends, smile, and go sit with someone that is sitting by themselves. -some upperclassmen trick you when you ask them for directions In high school classes usually last for way longer so eat a good breakfast - Bring a big backpack or tote for the first few days until you get your locker -High school isn't as scary as some people make it seem so don't worry -You have pep rallies, a school mascot and homecoming!! -There are more cute boys :) -Try and be social and make new friends - Bring a map of your school with you for the first couple of days -Have fun and study hard! High School is awesome!! Good Luck!

Don't be scared. High school is intimating but it doesn't have to be. Get a map of your school and outline where all your classes are and the best way to get there. DO NOT WORRY if you get lost, the reality is that even Seniors don't know where some classrooms are. If you are scared of other people or meeting them, then just relax with people you know and get to know others over the year. High school is going to seem alot harder than Middle school but it will get better. If you need help do not be afraid to talk to your counselor, that is what they are there for. If you can try to take a study hall for at least one semester. Everyone is a lot more mature in high school and not as petty or self absorbed. I also recommend to buy normal school supplies (binders, notebooks, pens/pencils) during the summer to not have to do so much shopping the first day. Good Luck, relax, and everyone feels the same as you, trust me!!!!

PS: It gets a lot easier with time

Pass your grade 8 subjects? :-) only kidding, although it's not a bad idea.

1) Be yourself. Phonies are inevitably exposed, sooner or later, and no one likes being tricked..so they usually end up friendless.

2) Avoid getting sucked in by cliques...at least as many people will hate you as like you, and probably more.

3) Make new friends, but don't throw the old ones away. It's great, particularly if you are going to a large school, to get to know new and different sorts of people. But the people who have been your Friends in the past have a bond you shouldn't ignore.

4) Treat all your classes seriously. You may have to take art or music or something else; and it may be in elementary school you could afford to fool around in class and not take it seriously. But in High School you need to get all your credits (or you are doomed to summer school, or repeating a course again and again until you get it), and it is better to be a little serious than throwing your time away.

Just take it all in. Don't spend too much time focusing on any one group of people or one activity at first. Every learning institution has the basic administrative areas like nurse's office, gym, homeroom, principle's office etc... Put a list of these standard areas together and make it a point to go and visit each one to explore. By setting clear objectives for yourself, you will find that you are focusing on exploration and learning of your new surrounding. This will take your mind away from any anxiety of actually facing your new surrounding. Kind of like camping for the first time. Don't be overwelmed, soon enough you will find that even a high school is too small for an active mind.

I am currently a freshman in highschool and the best advise I have to offer is to NOT PROCRASTINATE. High school isn't as bad as people say it is if you just get your work done on time. Just start turning in your homework or projects as soon as possible, even right now, as to become better prepared for all of high school's intenseness.

Nothing much to do. Just go with your instincts. Don't do anything you wouldn't normally do. Seniors are not intimidating. They are your friends. Everyone is your friend. Especially the kids with cars. Take clubs you want, speak to a counselor if your classes are too hard.
Don't be freaked out if you cry for the first month or two. Perfectly normal.

Find something to look forward to every day. A funny teacher, a free class, even lunch!

There is nothing to be scared of. Everyone in highschool knows you are new and everyone was scared to go to it. The people are really nice and always helpful. You don't need to prepare at all! Just catch up whatever material you didn't understand in your previous year. It is just like going to 8th grade from 7th grade, 7th from 6th, and so on. People just expect you to be a little more mature and organized. That's all. You also have to be more independent. People aren't going to be telling you what to do all the time and you have to manage your time wisely. Everyone has their own independent schedule and theire own problems.

don't be, this fall, i'll be going to 11th grade =). just chill out, relax, and remember to just be yourself, and if you want to change, make sure it's for the better (such as study habbits or organization- hopefully you already are- honestly, i'm not lol). i remember i was so nervous and afraid, but i got there, and just started talking to people, and all you have to do is start off with a compliment like "i like you shoes" or something. but watch out because sometimes people change on the transition to high school, like i had friends that became sexual active (with many boys), friends that started drugs, friends that got "too cool", and even friends that turned gay. again, just be you and hold your head up with confidence. i assure you everything will be okay. good luck =)
