They usually get them from other animals, or from eating raw meat, like mice. Maybe she got her paws on some raw meat in your house? Or you have mice you didn't know about.

cats and kittnes can get heart worms or even liver problems and caught dieases by beingin out door or even had a old history before you had adopted the cat you brought from. maybe the first owner who had the cat's didnt even take care of them by feeding it with right food or was living in a terrible place when they young . or if they were indoor cats then still can get dirty if the inside of the house wasnt cleaning just has dirties floors or even beinging some where else that have so many fleas or bugs that was living in the house they were before. if youre cats have those like of dieases i would take them to the veterinarian clinic get them worms tests first ? so that the cats can have better lifes not always feel sick . you know what does worms does to pets ? if you dont know then i tell you well there are least 6 different diease that a cat can get one is heart worm its where a alive worm is eatten out the cat heart , there is another diease call worm virus where it just make the animals feel so sick then cant breath at all just make everything in side the cats bodies stop. air virus is where it makes the dogs or cats have horrible eyes sight and liver problems . also can make the pets have cancers . they arent had their viruses tests done . doesnt cost so much , you can get it done at the petsmart or grooming dog and cat store , pet shop .

The most common type of worm (tapeworm) is transferred through fleas. The cat has to ingest an infected flea. Other worms can be picked up through eating rodents, raw meat etc., or can be passed on from the parent while still in the womb.

Cats and dogs contact intestinal worms from chewing fleas that are infected. So, it's important to keep the fleas under control.

They get it from stuff they eat or lick or drink, for example there are cats that hunt mice, mice has worms, kitty gets infected, this is why it's important to keep an eye on what kitty is eating or drinking.
