I thought my child support was being paid from my workmans comp as they knew about it and how much it was. They did not and I have to go to friend of the court for a meeting know. I was laid off as soon as I was sent back to work and have almost no money. They are taking 98.80 out of 275 .00 that I get per week. I have no money to take to the meeting but have approx. 450.00 coming in tax returns that they will automatically take. I did not try to skip on my child support I was undr the impression it was figured into workmans comp. The checks were no itemized in any way and were approx. the same as what I got when i was working after taxes and Child support.

I was told by the workmans comp claim people that it would be taken care of they specifically asked me how much it was. They should also have been given the order from my work. I am not trying to get out of paying. I am happy to pay my child support. Im wondering how to deal with this in the best possible way keeping in mind I dont have any available cashafter being on workmans comp for almost 4months and now unemployment. My tax returns will post to them within 2 weeks. Will that be good enough for them.

they will most likely not make you pay the back child support all at once. they will increase each future payment by about 50 bucks until its caught up.

You can't fight something that is technically your fault. The child support is your responsibility not workmans' comp. You should have reported your loss of income to the Dept. of Child Support immediately. All you can do now is make the best deal for payments you can and pay the money.

Ignorance did not put food on the table for the child You were responsible for. You continued to have the responsibility and should have looked into things a long time ago. Pay up and if You work on a payment plan they might be easier to deal with.

the key word here is "ASSUME". the amounts they took will be adjusted in the case, but the bottom line... is that you are responsible for making sure your child is taken care of.

its not the states responsibility.
