you would only need a firewire cable to connect the camcorder to your mac & use iMovie for video editing.

Good for you! I own a GL2 as well. All you need is a firewire cable really. If you would like something more powerful than iMovie, Final Cut Pro is a good option, and soon, Adobe will be releasing production studio for mac. Personally, I'd go with production studio because I'm an Adobe person, but FCP is very good option as well. Also, you might consider getting component video/S-video cables if you don't have some already, and you want to do some analog-digital passthrough. And finally, if you don't have the original CD that shipped with the GL2, you won't be able to view or edit photos (at least on my xp machine it can't, even though it's detecting the camera, it won't let me view it). So you can try to get a CD, although it might work fine on a mac. Just make sure you have a USB cable as well for the photo transfer. I have another digital camera, so I didn't have to get one. Hope this helps!

All you need is a 4 - 6 pin firewire cable to transfer the movies to iMovie and DVD-R media for burning the finished movie in iDVD, that is if your Mac has a DVD burner or you can transfer it back to the canon if it supports that.

iMovie in undemanding words supported MPEG-2/MPEG-4/speedy Time action picture/AVCHD/DV and HDV(severe Definition Video). so i imagine you basically want a correct converter to rework video to imovie format, then you definately can positioned the switched over video into imovie software. i'm making use of Xilisoft Video Converter that can attempt this nicely, it can also convert any video clips or audios between diverse formats, have a attempt by ability of your self. you may yahoo or google seek for and procure it, desire it may help you.
