Protein is made of amino acids and generally comes from meat products (such as pork, beef, chicken, fish[tuna and salmon are good lean sources]). But it can also come from lentils, beans (kidney, chickpeas etc) or protein shakes and powders.
Yes, he's right, protein helps a mind think. Try to eat at least an hour or more before your test as it has time to digest and become processed in your mind so you can actually think without your body concentrating on digesting instead.

nuts, seeds, soy products, tempeh, seitan, beans, lentils, peanut butter and other nut butters too. and your dad is right! eating well and sleeping well along with studying hard are the very best things you can do before a big test! good luck and also remember to stay hydrated, that means drink plenty of water and take your vitamins!

first of all your dad is confused, it was once thought that you have to eat a stake before you do any major sporting event. now they have discovered that it is bad to eat stake the night before and that we should be eating spaghetti. but any how any meat has allot of protein, but if you are a veggie like me beans , cheese , peanut butter, do wonders.
