If god is so kind and generous and caring, why is there so much suffering in the world.

How can people follow a god that is so cruel and unkind?

If he has all the power why doesn't he stop it??????

One possible answer is that we've brought it upon ourselves through sinning (a Christian perspective, and one that I don't personally subscribe to).

Another is that suffering is a learning process, or serves some other kind of spiritual function.

A third is that suffering is simply a consequence of existing in a complex world with many different variables and differing amounts of good and bad luck, as well as conflicting priorities among the living. This is the view that I think is most likely.

It could be argued that God offers us a great deal already in terms of connecting with God and the hope and comfort that comes from that connection. Or, perhaps God encompasses all things -- joy and sorrow, life and death, creation and destruction, and hence is not "all-loving", but rather, "all-encompassing". In that light, even moments of suffering are potentially sacred moments.

How do you know he doesn't stop a lot of it? Without his grace we might have already ended the human race.

Think about what you're saying...if God took care of everything for us, saved everyone from suffering...that would mean there was no sin. If there was no sin, then all would love God. If all loved God...we would either already be in heaven or we were created without free will.

Everyone wants God to end the suffering, but otherwise stay out of their lives. You can't have it both ways.

because he can help, but he can't change the course of fate. or maybe things are going to get worse, so he is saving his strength and help for that time. i honestly really don'y know.
